Loved the first episode of the podcast. You sound like you’re about my age and I really enjoy hearing adults talk about YA. I also first got into reading through the BSC and Sweet Valley (and Beverly Cleary. Plus Judy Blume). I thought you all had a great rapport and gave a nuanced discussion on adults reading YA.
My only criticism would be that I think you should either name the books/series you don’t like or don’t talk about them at all. There were several times that you discussed a book or series one of you disliked with a fair amount of detail, but then didn’t mention it. I found that very frustrating and not a good use of time if I as a listener don’t get that information. Personally I don’t have any problem with discussing books you disliked. I don’t think you’re going to upset the authors or publishers unless you start saying that they’re terrible people for writing such drivel. But if you don’t want to go negative, don’t go there at all – much better than teasing the listener.
Sorry my criticism was longer than my complement. I really did enjoy your podcast and despite the length, it was only a small problem I had mixed in with lots of great things. I listen to loads of podcasts (hundreds) and yours is different from the other YA podcasts I’ve found. I can’t wait to hear more from you.
